Streaming Video on Your TV

Your 3 Rivers Internet service is perfect for streaming video through apps like Hulu, Netflix and Amazon Prime. People use these online services to watch the type of entertainment they want, without having to enter into a long term contract or pay for satellite dishes and/or set top boxes.

So, how do you connect your TV to use services like this?

If you have a smart TV, the ability to stream is built in, in theory eliminating the need for a separate streaming device. However, not all smart TVs have all the apps pre-loaded that you want—some may have Netflix and not Hulu, for example. Another concern with smart TVs is the frequency in which the apps are updated. You may be able to update the apps after connecting a smart TV to the Internet, but an older smart TV will not have the latest version of the streaming service.

Streaming devices solve these issues. Instead of purchasing a new TV it might be more cost-effective to simply buy a streaming device such as Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Google Chromecast or Apple TV. Some gaming consoles such as PS4 and Xbox One can also serve as streaming devices. These devices connect to your TV and can give you access to the various services.

Google any of the services or devices mentioned above for more information.
