3 Rivers receives Smart Rural Community Showcase Award
3 Rivers recently received a NTCA Smart Rural Community (SRC) Showcase Award. These awards recognize outstanding achievement by rural broadband providers that lead projects to advance their communities. The award was accepted by 3 Rivers staff and board members at the recent NTCA Fall Conference.
The focus of our application was how we make supporting education a priority through our Youth Technology Grant program. 3 Rivers has awarded nearly $160,000 to schools and libraries to help purchase laptops, tablets, educational software, and other technology tools that expand learning opportunities. Our commitment to education extends even further through annual scholarships, teacher retention grants, and partnerships with schools and libraries. During the pandemic, we worked directly with local schools to connect nearly 200 families with Internet service so the students could continue to learn from home during school closures. ■
