Backup Battery Information

Backup Power for Telephone Service

For many years, your home telephone would allow you to stay connected to emergency voice services during a power outage. However, if your residential voice telephone service is provided by fiber optics rather than the traditional copper-based line, it requires backup battery power to continue functioning during a power outage.

To avoid a disruption during a power outage - and to maintain the ability to connect to 911 emergency services – 3 Rivers Communications provides you a battery with backup power for your residential voice telephone service at the time of the initial installation at no additional cost. The backup battery provided by 3 Rivers allows you to continue to use your home voice services during a power outage.

Expected Backup Power Duration

The backup battery provided to you at no cost upon installation has eight hours of standby power. This backup battery should give you at least 2 hours of talk time. If you feel that is not enough time, 3 Rivers offers a 24-hour backup battery for sale. Call our office for pricing.

Our backup battery does not provide power to any services other than voice. Home security systems, cordless phones, medical monitoring devices and other equipment will not run on a residential voice telephone backup battery.

Replacement/Spare Battery Options

The battery provided by our company may need to be replaced when the battery no longer functions. 3 Rivers Communications will provide and install a replacement backup battery at no cost, when it becomes known that the battery needs to be replaced. Should you desire a spare backup battery it can be purchased from 3 Rivers at our main office in Fairfield or we can ship it directly to your house, for an additional charge. Call for pricing.

You can also purchase additional spare backup batteries to keep on hand in your home through a local or online retailer. Please refer to instructions included with the battery for information you need to purchase a battery model that meets the requirements for powering your network terminal.
