3 Rivers Communications has been named a Smart Rural Community℠ (SRC) Gig-Certified Provider by NTCA– The Rural Broadband Association. SRC is a national network of communities powered by rural broadband companies that are focused on building a brighter future for small-town America. The program promotes rural broadband and its role in supporting economic development, education, health care and other important issues for rural America.
In order to receive recognition as an SRC Gig-Certified provider, 3 Rivers was required to meet certain base levels of broadband speeds and penetration levels, specifically 25/3 Mbps broadband to at least 50% of its service area with broadband subscription rates of at least 50%--all of which 3 Rivers far surpassed. 3 Rivers was also required to show that it can deliver commercial Gigabit speeds to 95% of one or more exchanges. 3 Rivers is currently capable of delivering Gigabit speeds to almost all of its exchanges. As a result of 3 Rivers’ national recognition, areas it serves are now celebrated as Gig-Certified Smart Rural Communities in program materials and online at www.smartruralcommunity.com.
