Fall Solar Outages Affect 3RTV

Twice a year, 3RTV viewers (and ALL TV viewers) across our area may experience brief signal pixelization, interference or loss of signal as the sun passes behind various satellites providing programming feeds. This phenomenon, known as a solar outage, occurs for a few weeks in the fall and then again in the spring. This fall, the outages begin before the around October 4 and continue through October 12.

These service disruptions are temporary, and picture quality will be restored within a few minutes. Most solar outages occur around midday and last anywhere from five to 15 minutes. Some outages may occur at other times, depending upon the satellite and programming.
